The Church Floor Restoration has begun! The work involves lifting, cleaning, re-laying and re-bonding all the oak blocks. It will also involve replacing all the damaged tiles. It is likely that the works will last a period of six to eight weeks. Therefore, during this time, the Nave of the Church should not be accessed under any circumstances.
All weekday services (Morning and Evening Prayer, and the weekday Masses) will take place in the Choir Vestry and entry and exit will be solely via the lower Vestry door.
Following the very positive discussions at the APCM we are aiming to raise £25,000 towards the total cost of the floor project (c£95,000). The rest will be paid for through two very generous legacies, donations previously received, and the use of St Margaret’s Development Fund.
On Sunday 27th May, we launched our appeal for the Church Floor, where you are able to sponsor tiles or oak blocks and Gift Aid your gift if you are able to do so. You can either pick up and complete the donation slip that will be available in the Parish Hall or print and complete the form at the bottom of this article. Once completed, please place it in the box marked “Floor Appeal” that will be in available each Sunday, or pass it to one of our Churchwardens or Bethany Harrison.
We are very grateful to you for any support you can give. If you would like, your gift will be acknowledged in our Subscribers Book, and your gift can also be made in memory of a loved one. We are very grateful for the generous donations we have already received towards the appeal totaling £4,262.50. (If you are a football fan you might also like to enter my “Footy for the Floor” World Cup Competition!).
Please be considerate and patient while this vital but disruptive work is taking place. Thank you to you all for your support. Fr Philip.
