Organ Recital
Friday 6 November, 12.30 pm
This recital begins with a beautiful example of Herbert Howells’s writing for the organ, the Fugue, Chorale and Epilogue of 1945; three ‘Improvisations’ follow, by the elderly Saint-Saȅns, written in 1916 – 17; and a series of short pieces by John McCabe, David Johnson, Francis Jackson and William Mathias from the 1960s round the programme off: not one but four finales! All the music in this recital was written during half of the 20th century, in all its stylistic variety. Free entry with a retiring collection to support the Organ Restoration Fund. All welcome.
